NDIS

NDIS Services at PhysMed

PhysMed supports NDIS participants with goal-focused physiotherapy and recovery. We work with you and your plan to build capacity, independence and quality of life — at your pace.

NDIS physiotherapy in Adelaide should be practical, goal-focused and genuinely centred on the life you want to live. At PhysMed in Unley, we support National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants with allied health care that is built around your plan goals, delivered by David Boyd, a registered physiotherapist and member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association. Our philosophy is to help you take your health into your own hands, build capacity and thrive, with care that is measured, evidence-informed and respectful.

If you are an NDIS participant, or you support someone who is, this page explains how we work, the kinds of goals we help with and how to get started at our Unley clinic.

How we support NDIS participants

We provide goal-focused physiotherapy and recovery support as part of your NDIS journey. Rather than offering generic sessions, we take time to understand your plan, your priorities and what matters most to you in daily life. From there we build a program designed to move you toward your goals at a pace that suits you.

Our support is firmly grounded in physiotherapy and allied health. That means working with your body, your movement and your function, and equipping you with the knowledge and skills to keep progressing between sessions.

Participants we work with

We work with NDIS participants whose plans allow them to engage allied health services directly, including:

  • Self-managed participants, who manage their own NDIS funding and arrange their own providers
  • Plan-managed participants, whose funding is administered by a registered plan manager who pays providers on their behalf

If you are self-managed or plan-managed, you generally have flexibility in choosing PhysMed for your physiotherapy. If you are unsure how your plan is managed or what it covers, we are happy to talk it through with you, and we recommend confirming details with your plan manager or support coordinator. You can reach us any time via contact.

What we help with

Every participant is different, so every program is tailored. Common areas of focus include:

  • Capacity building, helping you develop skills, confidence and independence in daily activities
  • Mobility goals, working on how you move, transfer and get around
  • Strength and conditioning, building physical capacity in a safe, progressive way
  • Balance and function, supporting safer movement and participation
  • Recovery support, using appropriate physiotherapy approaches to support your wellbeing
  • Pain and tension management, addressing physical barriers that get in the way of your goals

We use measured language throughout our care. Physiotherapy may help and can support your progress toward your goals, and we will always be honest about realistic expectations rather than promising outcomes.

Goal-focused, plan-aligned care

The NDIS is built around your goals, and so is our approach. At the start, we work with you to translate your plan goals into clear, practical physiotherapy objectives. Sessions are then structured around these objectives, with regular check-ins to see how you are tracking and to adjust the plan as your needs change.

Where your plan requires it, we can provide reporting aligned to your plan goals to support your reviews and ongoing funding conversations. Good documentation helps demonstrate progress and ensures everyone supporting you, from your plan manager to your support coordinator, has a clear picture of how therapy is contributing to your goals.

Our approach at PhysMed

What sets PhysMed apart is the way our services connect. Your NDIS physiotherapy can draw on the full breadth of what we offer in Unley. Where appropriate and in line with your goals and plan, your physiotherapy may be complemented by recovery options at Club PhysMed. David's dual background in physiotherapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine also means he brings a thoughtful, whole-person perspective: ancient knowledge backed by modern science, always with your physiotherapy goals at the centre.

Above all, our aim is to build your capacity so you can take greater ownership of your health, reduce barriers to participation and thrive in the things that matter to you.

What to expect in your first appointment

Your first session is an unhurried conversation and assessment. We will ask about your goals, your plan, your daily routine and any challenges you are facing. David will assess your movement, strength and function, then discuss a plan with you in plain language. Together we will set clear objectives and agree on the next steps, so you leave with a sense of direction.

You are welcome to bring a family member, carer or support person, and to share any reports or information from your support coordinator or plan manager that might help us tailor your care.
